Peter the Great Saint-Petersburg Polytechnic University is pleased to report that Sokolova Yekaterina Andreevna, graduate student of «Nuclear and Heat Power engineering» department won a grant to participate at Stanford Russian-American forum (SURF) on «Nuclear safety».
The purpose of the competition is to strengthen collaboration between Russian and American leading universities by means of teamwork research in different fields. Twenty-Russian and twenty American students, divided into groups of four, meet at the week-long conference in Moscow in early September to get acquainted and to define goals and plan for the future of the project, the results of which will be announced at Stanford University conference in April.
Stanford University is a private research institute that holds the highest place in the world among the top ranked universities. For instance, it took the 7th place in
«QS World University Rankings» and the 4th place in «The Times Higher Education World University Rankings»
SURF is a non-profit organization founded in 2008 by students of the Moscow State University and Stanford University.
The merger was to find possibilities of establishing relations between Russia and the United States, despite of political conflicts. More than 240 undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students of the most prestigious universities, including Harvard, Yale and Cambridge have taken part in the program, guest speakers were such famous personalities as former US Secretary of Energy Steven Chu and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
